This year we have the privilege of being an overnight stop for RAGBRAI. This means upwards of 15,000 bicyclists and support people will be in town to enjoy our hospitality and support our local business and organizations. It's a great chance to showcase our community and enjoy the people and activities associated with this event.
RAGBRAI is primarily a camping event and there will be campgrounds established to accommodate the majority of the riders. However, there will also be a substantial number of riders who will be requesting other accommodations outside the campgrounds. Thus, the Eldora RAGBRAI Housing Committee is seeking volunteers that can provide indoor bedding or floor space, outdoor space for tent camping or space for motor homes. This would also include access to a bathroom and shower and possibly somewhere to fill their water bottles. Hosts are not expected to provide such things as towels or soap nor are they expected to feed or transport them around town. They are also not allowed to charge for their accommodations.
RAGBRAI riders will begin to arrive from sometime mid-morning Tuesday and be on their way early to mid-morning Wednesday. You should find riders to be well behaved, appreciative and respectful guests and your hospitality will help make their RAGBRAI experience a memorable one.
Would you like to host RAGBRAI riders? Please fill out the form below to tell us about the accommodations you can provide and any preferences we should consider when placing riders with you. After May 1, we will begin accepting registered rider requests for housing and start the matching process.
